Greetings Gators!

I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are having an incredible start to the new semester. To our new 1Ls, Transfers and LLM students: congratulations on completing your first days of school at UF Law! We are excited to welcome you and are proud to have such a distinguished and diverse class.

With the fall semester having already arrived, the SBA wanted to update you on some exciting projects we have been working on the past few months.

Direction

Our goal for SBA’s first year is straightforward. We will build and solidify the systems upon which all future SBA’s will serve UF Law. We will set the example for those future teams by making tangible impacts on your experience over the next two semesters.

Anticipate events that facilitate student networking and professional-skill development, modernization of communication paths between all stakeholders in our law school, and other streamlined resources designed to improve and enrich your experience at UF Law.

Website: Launching August 28

One of the most important functions of SBA is to enable a stronger connection between students and the broader UF law community: including current students, future students, alumni, professors, and the administration.

Towards that effort, we are launching an SBA website at http://www.uflawsba.com. The website will be live starting Monday, August 28, and we encourage you to explore and learn about SBA, including our upcoming elections and committee opportunities Coming soon are systems that enable students to give feedback to the SBA and administration. It will also include resources listing volunteer and pro bono opportunities, and it will provide easy access to ways for you to get plugged in. This year, we challenge every student to become more involved!

Let’s Talk!

The work of SBA is accomplished through committees. Some of these are constitutionally chartered; others are formed to work on special projects. For instance, a special committee may be assembled to address a concern voiced by a student or to plan a specialized event.

Our base committees are fully formed, and they are working diligently for you. If you have an idea you would like to see implemented, a concern you feel needs to be addressed, or you have positive or critical feedback—please do not hesitate to reach out to us. A description of each of the committees is available on our website ), and if there is no relevant committee formed, please contact me at 386.623.7672 or Nax.joye@gmail.com and we will discuss forming a special committee to meet the need.

We are grateful for you, and cannot wait to serve you for the next two semesters. We have some extraordinary initiatives and events planned that we can’t wait to launch!

GO GATORS!
